The series After the Rain (2026-ongoing ) begins after a tumultous, hectic year of extreme downsizing; packing, moving, leaving friends and resettling in a new city and then having to downsize yet again in order to squeeze into a small apartment.

I took a photograph on New Year's Day, 2026 at English Bay Beach while spectactors waited for the Polar Bear Plunge; a young woman sat on a rock looking down at the beach, her dog beside her seemingly posing for me and making an emotional connection. The dog was wearing what appeared to be a collar of painted wooden beads. It might have been custom-made. I found the communion with the dog very peaceful and comforting, as if to say, 'look,
you made it; now take in the tranquility and beauty around you'.

The experience has so powerfully resonated with me I decided to riff on the image and work through variables in different mediums.

Here is the work so far this year.
